Back From Utah

We were in Utah over conference weekend to attend a Mission reunion for Tim, in November he will have been home four years. He served in the Guayaquil, Ecuador mission. It was fun to see a few of Tim's mission companions and trainers. There was a lot of new things to learn as well as fun people to meet. Skylr slept through the whole dinner and was very tired when it came time for the mission president to talk. We were also able to spend the weekend with great grandparents whom have only seen Sky once before this visit. Now that we have been home, Skylr has started to eat baby food mixed with cereal. She seems to really like the apple sauce and she will kind of throw a mini fit if she gets too hungry and i don't feed her fast enough. She is still trying to get the hang of swallowing and still uses her tongue to move the food out of her mouth. She gets better at it every day though. It was funny, this morning i was eating cereal while preparing a bottle for Sky and she was in her Bumbo on the counter. Every bite i took of my breakfast she would open her mouth for a bite too. She was getting very frustrated that she wasn't getting fed, so i pulled out her apple sauce to make her feel better. She is getting so close to rolling from her back to her belly. She loves her feet and holds them tight. While we were in Utah her great grandma lu got her the cutest Halloween costume, but i am not going to reveal what she is going to be until i blog about what we did for Halloween. hehehe :) Before Skylr was born Tim's dad got her a Halloween costume that we thought would fit perfect...well the months were theoretically correct, but we tried in on her yesterday and it was beyond a tight squeeze. Good thing Lu got her a new (and extremely cute)one. Last weekend was Skylr's first pool experience and she loved it. When she was on her back in the water, she would kick up a storm and splash all over her face...what a goof. O ya last week we got Skylr's ears pierced...she cried for a minute, but she looks great and they don't bother her.

Learning New Steps

Skylr is learning to rollover. She can roll from her belly to her back and is still trying to roll back to belly. She still isn't teething yet...thank goodness. She is trying to sit up now too. She leans back to hard right now, but she will even herself out soon. Sky's big thing right now is to grab her toes, she tries to take her socks off...its cute. She has started to sleep through the night, and i hope it lasts for a while. We were able to see my dad's parents from Utah this past weekend, and we are planning a visit to Utah ourselves this coming weekend for Tim's mission reunion. We are excited to see some people we haven't seen for a while and to visit more with Great Grandparents.

Eugene Trip

We celebrated Tim's 25th birthday (September 18) traveling to Eugene, Oregon. We had a great family vacation with Tim's brother Joe and his family. During the drive we stopped at a look out of a lava rock location that was pretty neat...that was were we figured out how to use the timer on our camera, which is way cool. We went to the Oregon coast to play at the beach, and we were also able to visit a historical light house at Heceta beach just about a quarter of a mile from the beach. Skylr spent the majority of our beach visit taking a nap in her Moby Sling, but we took tons of pictures so she wont miss out. lol. Later that day we visited the worlds largest sea cave and saw a few sea lions. For dinner that night we ate in an old classic 50's car at a restaurant. It was so much fun being with Joe, Britney, Dylan, and Jovie... it had been way to long since the last time we saw them and we can't wait to plan our next get together. Saturday was the day to remember for Tim and his brother Joe, they went to the BSU vs. the University of Oregon game...were I bet you may have heard that BSU (the underdogs) won once again 37-32, making quit the upset in college football. Sadly we had to leave on Sunday to return to our lonely little puppy Darby. Skylr did surprisingly well during the 8 hour drive. We only had to stop for lunch and any diaper changes. I kept a jug of hot water in the car so that i could make a bottle at any time. O... i forgot to mention the SWEET cake i made for Tim, it was a transformer cake...optomus prime head to be exact. It was quite a hit and a great way to celebrate Tim (9/18) and Joe's (9/19) birthday

Play 'till ya drop

Skylr loves her jumparoo so much that she played herself to sleep. I was folding the laundry on the couch, right next to her. One minute she was talking up a storm, telling me stories, and the next she was asleep. I am so glad that I keep the camera handy so that I can capture moments just like this one. She has been sleeping and eating a lot. When I took her out of her jumparoo, after her little photo shoot, she didn't even flinch. She slept in my arm the whole way to her crib and then for about 30 minutes longer.

Another Lucore Weekend

This weekend arived Art in the Park, an event that I love to attend every year. This year was the first time Tim and Skylr went, we all had a good time trying on hats and looking at the beautiful and silly art pieces. We were able to see Eric Dowdle at the park and chatted with him for a while it was nice for my mom and Grandma to see him again and I enjoyed meeting him...he said that if we give him a picture of our family that he would paint it in his Boise State Arena piece that he is working on right now. Tim is very excited since he is such a big BSU fan. While we were at Art in the Park, we were able to have our picture taken by one of the artists. After our Art walk we let Skylr try some cereal. She had a hard time figuring out the new consistency and she made a mess, but it was fun. Today (Sunday) we invited Skylr's Great Grandma Gerrel to lunch after church, the last time she saw Sky was at her Baby Blessing. We had a nice chicken dinner and were able to catch up on things. Following Gerrels visit The Lucores took there weekly family walk around the neighborhood and through the park. Today we played at the park for a little while. Skylr and I swung, then went down the slide. Tim and Darby tested a few of the slides too. Skylr loves walks and being outside, so does Darby, so we have a good time.

Staying Busy ;)

Skylr is almost four months old (9-14-08), where has the time gone!?! Leaving the hospital is still a crystal clear memory. She is becoming more and more active, and she eats like a little monster. Sky still isn't sleeping through the night since she moved to her crib. She is waking up at 3,6, then 8, which still baffles me since i feed her formula with cereal at every night feeding. I look forward to the time when she sleeps through the night, but i still love seeing her sleepy face at those early morning feedings. It has been a little cooler weather here, around 75. Which means jackets and hats for our daily walks. Sky doesn't particularly like the process of more layers, but we fight through it so that she can stay cuddly warm.
Skylr is still loving her Blue Bumbo chair, which we have on the counter for the time being. She likes to watch me work in the kitchen and i like to have the company, and the chatter makes it fun. She just recently got a new toy, it's called a Rain Forest Jumparoo. She really likes it, I was watching some kids for a friend a couple of days ago and she has a baby boy 8 days older then Sky. He had an exersaucer, Sky tryed it out and thought it was pretty fun so we got her a toy pretty similar. She is still a little small for it, she can't quit reach the ground so we have a blanket underneath it to help her so she can bounce around. She has started to laugh at more things. When our dog Darby runs up to us while she is on my lap and i tell her "She's gona get us" it makes her giggle. I love the stage she is in right now, the first year is my favorite. Which means more fun for the taking since she isn't even four months yet.

Skylr

Skylr is slowly starting to become her own little person, she definitely likes things to be a certain way, and she will let you know when she doesn't like something. She has just barely master her cry's, she never was a cry baby. She would fuse, but now she cry's really well when she wants something.

  1. She has started to dislike her car seat. She tolerates it at times, but vocalizes her frustration.
  2. She has been eating about every 2 hours, I think that it is because she is growing.
  3. She eats from "me" during the day, but i give her formula with cereal mixed with it so that she will sleep in longer block increments.
  4. I usually start getting her ready for bed at 9:00 and she is asleep by 9:30-10:00. She wakes up at 2:00 am, then 6:00 am I give her 4 ounces of formula combined with cereal at each of those feedings. She eats and goes right back to sleep and then we are up for the morning at 8:00 am.
  5. She hates belly time.
  6. She loves her swing, bouncy chair, highchair, Johnny Jumper, stroller, Bumbo and playing on the blanket on the floor.
  7. She absolutely loves being outside, so i try to take her for at least one half hour walk a day. For the past two days i have been using the little "snuggli" back packs and she falls asleep during the walk.
  8. She talks so much now, she "coos" and "gabbers" all of the time, and if you make her laugh she gets the hick-ups.
  9. She seems to sleep better if she is swaddled.
  10. She will sleep longer unswaddled if you are holding her, but once you put her down and walk away she wakes up.
  11. When she is on her belly she pushes forward with her legs, I wonder if I am going to be in trouble sooner then i thought!:)
  12. She likes to watch ceiling fans and her daddy wrestle with our dog Darby.
  13. She favors her right side, which means I have to fight with her to lay and look to her left.
  14. She likes to be read to so i read at least 3 books a day to her...she likes them better at night right now, the sound of my voice soothes her to sleep.
  15. She is a GREAT burper and she lets everyone know it.
  16. When she gets fussy, as soon as you face her forward so she can see her surroundings better...she stops her fuss'n.
  17. She loves her puppy Darby, and Darby loves her. Darby often gives her kisses and Skylr willingly accepts them.
  18. Her naps don't seem to last longer than an hour, so she takes many of them. About 3-4 a day.
  19. We don't like to have her watch T.V., but if she gets a glance she is mesmerized.
  20. She's really calm during her baths and she loves showers with mom. She likes to watch me and we make each other laugh.

Johnny Junper!!! Bouncy Bouncy...Swing!!!

Skylr tryed out her Johnny Jumper today, she seemed to really like it. I had to put a blanket on each side of her so that she could sit in there straight. She could reach the ground with her little toes and she would swing around a little, which she thought was fun. I helped her bounce a little and she was quit the smiley little girl. Skylr will be bouncing through the roof here soon. But right now I like my little baby girl that's just learning to giggle and roll over. I don't want her to grow to fast, but it's inevitable that she is getting bigger and growing into a smart little cookie. Sky has been turning her head more when her name is called, but she doesn't look at you for long unless you are talking to her and making silly sound/faces.

Pool Splashes

Skylr and I took a little dip yesterday. Tim was washing the car and it was about 100 degrees out so we put on our swim suits. Tim kept splashing us with the water (which I thought felt good, but it surprised Skylr every time...It was cute and silly) so we filled up a little pool and hoped in. Sky didn't like it at first but then she came around. She didn't want to play for very long, but it sure was a refreshing change from the heat. We can't wait until next summer when she is more interacive...we hope that she likes the water as much as we do. We want to take her to the beach this January and we predict that she will love it...

Visisting Great Great Grandma!!!

Skylr took her first trip to the great metropolis known as Jerome Idaho to visit her great great grandma Bean. Grandma was extremely excited to see our little ball of beauty. It had been ages since grandma had held a baby so she was a little nervous. I had fun showing her the proper way to hold Skylr. Grandma then took us on a shopping spree for clothes, diapers, wipes, toys, and anything else a beautiful baby could want or need. She is sporting a new pink dress grandma picked out, as you can see in one of the pics. We had a nice lunch at grandmas favorite "smorgasbord" the golden corral. It was fun spending the day with grandma and we can't wait to see her again.

I am a QT!!!!

Skylr is still at that age were I can dress her up in anything...and i am taking full advantage of it. Julie got her this outfit from a friend in Virginia, and we love it. She has so many clothes, it is so fun dressing a little girl. She is going through another big growth spurt. She eats every 2 and a half hours now and sleeps so much more. Tim comments on how she is getting so big, everyday when he comes home form work. It's really exciting to watch her grow and start to move through her mile stones, but it also is very sad to see my little baby girl grow up. I can't even imagine you mothers with older "babies" according to my mom i am still her baby...a label you never grow out of. lol.

What's New with the Lucore's

We recently got a new couch. Our little two seater couch just wasn't working for our growing family, so we upgraded to grande. we really like the couch and it fits in the house just right. although it doesn't have any recliners like our last couch it is perfect for us.
Darby isn't allowed on this couch, it has been quit an adjustment for her since she was always on the other one. We have been super busy lately. I just finished my last quarter attending classes @ TVCC. i will finish online so that i can be with Skylr. Tim didn't take classes this summer and that was awsome to have a break, but he starts his fall classes on monday :( it will be hard not to be able to see him as often. He has classes monday through thursday 6-9pm. atleast we have the weekends together. Skylr and i will miss him, but he should be home for Sky's bedtime. this should be tim's last semester with this night schedule, he should be attending classes during the day and online next semester...can't wait. Skylr is so active now, she is rolling to her sides and can talk your ears off with gibbers. She loves being outside and looking around, which is why she always wants to be sitting up and standing.

Growing Growing Growing

Skylr is growing like a weed. She was 3 months thursday 8-14-08. We went to the doctor yesturday and Sky is 13.5 lbs which is almost 6lbs gained since birth. She has grown 4 inches in her length and 2 inches around her nogen. She is as healthy as can be and she shows it. Sky also had to get her vaccinations yesturday...that was hard for both of us. While we were waitig for the nurse to come in with the vaccs. Sky fell asleep and she didn't wake up until that first shot. She was not happy and was a little fussy the rest of the day, but she is doing great this morning.

Go Boise Hawks!!!!

We just got home from the Boise Hawk's Baseball game about an hour ago...and it was a blast. The Hawk's baseball team had the honor of presenting the first sporting event Skylr has attended and they won 5-3. We had a great time at the game, a co-worker of Tim's gave him free box tickets; so we had amazing seats. We sat by the other teams dugout, and we were in the shade the whole time...it couldn't have been better seats for Skylr. Sky behaved like her usual self...perfect. She only fussed once about an hour and a half into the game when she became hungry, for the most part she sat on my lap and watched the game, when she wasn't sleeping.

whats new?!?

Skylr has moved to her crib. Friday July 25th was her first night in her own room. She woke up at 5:00am to eat, then at 8:00am. I get her ready for bed around 9:00pm, before she moved to her crib she slept all night, but now she wakes up in the middle of the night and takes a lot longer to go to bed. Julie was telling me that Sky got used to different noises during the night when she slept in our room, and now the noises have changed. I have been a little more tired this past week, but thats part of the transition. I had a pretty hard time that first night, i wanted her to be close to me, but we have been doing well with her in her own room. I check on her often and have the baby monitors up really high. lol. she is growing so much it is insane.

Skylr loves getting wet. She is so good during baths and has been taking showers with mom. I was pretty nervous for her first shower becuase i know how slippery babies can be when wet, but she did great. she loves the water splashing on her face and it's so cute how she focus' on me so well.
