November

We have been laying pretty low for the past few weeks, although it feels like we have been pretty busy. When I reflect on the week I find that we did not do anything really interesting. Thursday Skylr and I picked Tim's mom up from an ENT surgery. She had a deviated septum that was fixed, Skylr and I took care of her all of Thursday and we had a good time. It wasn't fun to remind her to irrigate her nose, because she didn't like it very well. I sure do hate having to be the bad guy, but it has made the healing process better. She was a great patient and made my doctor duties easy. Friday night we went to a poetry reading for one of Tim's classes, Skylr was very welcomed and made a few funny sounds at just the right time, which made everyone laugh. I did have to leave because she got bored, so we walked around the Boise States Student Art Displays. Saturday we were finally able to go to Red Lobster so that I could eat my beloved shrimp, it was great and way fun. Tim and I had a great time with Sky. Tim was just playing with Sky a few hours ago and I caught Sky on camera being a goof. The flash kept catching her off guard so she would frown at me. Darby thought we were having lots of fun and wanted to join in, so Skylr grabbed Darby's head and pet her for a little bit. Darby is great with Sky, she will let her do anything....Tim and I are so glad, we must admit that we were a little worried about how well they would get along. They have become pretty good pal's, and as the days progress so does thier bond. This Saturday I am going to my High School friends (Tylene) baby shower, she is having a baby boy 12-4-08 and will name him Jedsen Robert Aldrich. After that we are taking family pictures for our Christmas card. we are very excited and have outfits all picked out. Sky will be having her 6 month pics done on Dec. 5. She is growing so much. Actually Monday are her 6 month shots, can't wait to see how much she ways and how tall she has gotten. I just can't believe how fast 6 months can fly.

Happy Halloween!!!!

We had a fun Halloween this year, first we went to a party at Tim's work which is were Skylr fell asleep on my lap. Then the Miller's and The Lucore's got together for dinner and a movie at our place and we passed out candy. Tim was a Motorcycle rider (he just put his riding gear on), I was a Witch, Skylr was Miney Mouse, Our dog Darby was dressed in a little Tuxedo, My mom was a cat, and Craig was a Doctor. We saw lots of cute costumes from the Trick-or-Treaters, and we missed out on all of the tricks...Bumber. ;) Our pumpkins turned out really cool, The football and vomating Jack-O-Lantern's were done by Tim. The traditional face was created by Craig and the Miller's name was carved by my mom. They looked great all lit up, the Trick-or-Treater's loved them. Can't wait 'till next Halloween.

New Traditions

Our family has decided to create new traditions now that we have become new little families. I think that canning has become our first tradition. As well as pumpkin carving, the boys got into it more than us girls, but i am sure that once Skylr is older and more kids are added to the mix, that it will become quit fun event. This weekend was full of fun, my mom and i happily made five bushels of apple into applesauce and successfully sealed all 38 jars. It was a long day, but very fun, Skylr loves the applesauce and was a very good girl for her daddy while my mom and i got to work. She played in a little exersaucer bug in the garage with us for a while until she fell asleep, which is when i captured her making the 'I love you' hand sign to me and her daddy. Skylr and Tim had a fun spending the day together while my mom and i canned, he had her laughing for a while, it was adorable. actually a few days ago we were in the kitchen and Darby kept walking by, right in front of Sky, and every time she went by Skylr would crack up. It was hilarious, i only wish we got it in film, we were way to entranced by her little laugh and the fact that it didn't take much for her to giggle.

She has been sitting up really well, once she finds her balance she can sit up for several minutes at a time. She loves to stand up, which would explain why she loves her jumparoo so much. Her new thing right now is to spit, she pushes out her saliva and makes noises, it's very funny, but i can already see her spitting her food out and making a mess. Speaking of food, she has been eating baby food for some time now and is doing great, she eats pretty fast and is upset if she isn't fed fast enough. she loves corn just like her dad and like all babies she very much enjoys her fruits.

Sunday after church my parents came to our house and had dinner. We carved 3 awesome pumpkins, One of the pumpkins Tim carved was huge so after he gutted it out we put Skylr in it and took some family pictures. She didn't like it to much but it sure was cute/funny. i will post the finished Jack O Lantern's along with Skylr's and the families costumes after Halloween. we all had lots of fun, we finished the night by treating ourselves to my famous and Delicious Carmel brownies..."They are the BEST brownies I have ever had in my life!!" says Tim. we had a fun weekend.

Skylr Rolled Over

We have finally caught Skylr on tape while she is rolling over. When she rolled over for the first time last Sunday, Tim and i missed it and we have been waiting for her to do it agian. I just happened to have to camera so i caught it all. We are ao excited about her meeting her mile stones. She is growing so fast.

Keeping it Easy

We haven't been up to much lately. Skylr and I have both had Dr. Appointments in the last week, we are both very healthy. Skylr is 17.9 lbs and 26 in. long. She has been doing extremely well being introduced to new foods, so far she has tried apple sauce, red potatoes from my grandparents garden, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and carrots from our garden. She seems to love them all, but likes her butternut squash the best...she even prefers it over apple sauce. That makes it way easy for me, her next food introduction is pears. My mom and I have picked apples from the orchard so that we can make apple sauce for both of our food storage's, but I wont be adding any sugar to mine so that I can give it to Skylr. It should be pretty interesting for the next couple of Saturdays, neither my mom nor I have made apple sauce and my grandma wont be there to help, I am sure we can manage. But then again you know what they say...one girl is a girl, two girls is a half a girl and three girls is no girl at all. We are going to be doing this as half a girl...lol. I also got a few pumpkins for Tim and Craig to carve while they watch Skylr so that my mom and i can work on canning. I got an extra pumpkin so that i can make my first pumpkin pie completely from scratch. I got a recipe that i like and i already know how to make my grandmas flaky pie crust, so i am way excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas to try out my pies. Next year my mom and i have decided that we will get together and start canning and drying earlier in the summer so that we can get more stuff..peaches, grapes, pears, pie filling apples, apples (for apple sauce), & apricots so we can make jams and jelly's and to dry and can. I will also make more pumpkin pie filling if i enjoy making it. I can't wait to try it out...i will let ya know how everything turns out. Oh...i started a blog for my parents, i have the link, you should check it out.

It is starting to act like fall so we are all bundling up more, Skylr hates it, but she looks so cute in her jacket, vest and beanie. She stays plenty warm when we go places becuase i put her in the sling, she uses my body heat...i stay nice and warm for that matter. Last week my grandma helped me pick out some fabric so that i could make slings. It was very easy, i was able to make two slings out ot 5 and a quarter yards of fabric. They turned out very nice and i enjoyed making them. Tim and i have also been on over drive building our food storage, we have established it well enough to just add a little at a time now. you should see all the cans of formula in our pantry, goodness it looks like we have quintes...lol. It does feel really good to have food storage though, we can't wait for my parents house to be built so that they can get all there stuff our of our house/garage. we will have so much space for all of our food storage, especially when my mom and i can next year.

Back From Utah

We were in Utah over conference weekend to attend a Mission reunion for Tim, in November he will have been home four years. He served in the Guayaquil, Ecuador mission. It was fun to see a few of Tim's mission companions and trainers. There was a lot of new things to learn as well as fun people to meet. Skylr slept through the whole dinner and was very tired when it came time for the mission president to talk. We were also able to spend the weekend with great grandparents whom have only seen Sky once before this visit. Now that we have been home, Skylr has started to eat baby food mixed with cereal. She seems to really like the apple sauce and she will kind of throw a mini fit if she gets too hungry and i don't feed her fast enough. She is still trying to get the hang of swallowing and still uses her tongue to move the food out of her mouth. She gets better at it every day though. It was funny, this morning i was eating cereal while preparing a bottle for Sky and she was in her Bumbo on the counter. Every bite i took of my breakfast she would open her mouth for a bite too. She was getting very frustrated that she wasn't getting fed, so i pulled out her apple sauce to make her feel better. She is getting so close to rolling from her back to her belly. She loves her feet and holds them tight. While we were in Utah her great grandma lu got her the cutest Halloween costume, but i am not going to reveal what she is going to be until i blog about what we did for Halloween. hehehe :) Before Skylr was born Tim's dad got her a Halloween costume that we thought would fit perfect...well the months were theoretically correct, but we tried in on her yesterday and it was beyond a tight squeeze. Good thing Lu got her a new (and extremely cute)one. Last weekend was Skylr's first pool experience and she loved it. When she was on her back in the water, she would kick up a storm and splash all over her face...what a goof. O ya last week we got Skylr's ears pierced...she cried for a minute, but she looks great and they don't bother her.

Learning New Steps

Skylr is learning to rollover. She can roll from her belly to her back and is still trying to roll back to belly. She still isn't teething yet...thank goodness. She is trying to sit up now too. She leans back to hard right now, but she will even herself out soon. Sky's big thing right now is to grab her toes, she tries to take her socks off...its cute. She has started to sleep through the night, and i hope it lasts for a while. We were able to see my dad's parents from Utah this past weekend, and we are planning a visit to Utah ourselves this coming weekend for Tim's mission reunion. We are excited to see some people we haven't seen for a while and to visit more with Great Grandparents.

Eugene Trip

We celebrated Tim's 25th birthday (September 18) traveling to Eugene, Oregon. We had a great family vacation with Tim's brother Joe and his family. During the drive we stopped at a look out of a lava rock location that was pretty neat...that was were we figured out how to use the timer on our camera, which is way cool. We went to the Oregon coast to play at the beach, and we were also able to visit a historical light house at Heceta beach just about a quarter of a mile from the beach. Skylr spent the majority of our beach visit taking a nap in her Moby Sling, but we took tons of pictures so she wont miss out. lol. Later that day we visited the worlds largest sea cave and saw a few sea lions. For dinner that night we ate in an old classic 50's car at a restaurant. It was so much fun being with Joe, Britney, Dylan, and Jovie... it had been way to long since the last time we saw them and we can't wait to plan our next get together. Saturday was the day to remember for Tim and his brother Joe, they went to the BSU vs. the University of Oregon game...were I bet you may have heard that BSU (the underdogs) won once again 37-32, making quit the upset in college football. Sadly we had to leave on Sunday to return to our lonely little puppy Darby. Skylr did surprisingly well during the 8 hour drive. We only had to stop for lunch and any diaper changes. I kept a jug of hot water in the car so that i could make a bottle at any time. O... i forgot to mention the SWEET cake i made for Tim, it was a transformer cake...optomus prime head to be exact. It was quite a hit and a great way to celebrate Tim (9/18) and Joe's (9/19) birthday

Play 'till ya drop

Skylr loves her jumparoo so much that she played herself to sleep. I was folding the laundry on the couch, right next to her. One minute she was talking up a storm, telling me stories, and the next she was asleep. I am so glad that I keep the camera handy so that I can capture moments just like this one. She has been sleeping and eating a lot. When I took her out of her jumparoo, after her little photo shoot, she didn't even flinch. She slept in my arm the whole way to her crib and then for about 30 minutes longer.

Another Lucore Weekend

This weekend arived Art in the Park, an event that I love to attend every year. This year was the first time Tim and Skylr went, we all had a good time trying on hats and looking at the beautiful and silly art pieces. We were able to see Eric Dowdle at the park and chatted with him for a while it was nice for my mom and Grandma to see him again and I enjoyed meeting him...he said that if we give him a picture of our family that he would paint it in his Boise State Arena piece that he is working on right now. Tim is very excited since he is such a big BSU fan. While we were at Art in the Park, we were able to have our picture taken by one of the artists. After our Art walk we let Skylr try some cereal. She had a hard time figuring out the new consistency and she made a mess, but it was fun. Today (Sunday) we invited Skylr's Great Grandma Gerrel to lunch after church, the last time she saw Sky was at her Baby Blessing. We had a nice chicken dinner and were able to catch up on things. Following Gerrels visit The Lucores took there weekly family walk around the neighborhood and through the park. Today we played at the park for a little while. Skylr and I swung, then went down the slide. Tim and Darby tested a few of the slides too. Skylr loves walks and being outside, so does Darby, so we have a good time.
