Can You Say "Dada"!!

Skylr has started to say Dada...We think that it is pretty fun even though she has only found a new sound and doesn't know (yet) that she is calling for daddy.
I love to watch her talk...her little cheeks move up and down and you can see her teeth clear as day. Last Friday I went to the Other Mother's quarter sale in Boise and found a few cute items. I found this hat , I put it on Sky to see how she would react. She kept looking up to see the bill. She also gave me a great teeth shot while she was talking.

Staying Silly

Skylr loves to play, especially with her puppy. She took Darby's rope and was sorta teasing her with it. Sky would take it while Darby was sitting with it, but then as soon as Sky took it and rolled with it Darby would go over to Sky and take it back. It was fun to watch.
Skylr rolls everywhere. She could crawl if she wanted to, but chooses to roll. I think she is just going to start walking some day, and skip the crawling stage. She rolls all around the house, she even found her way into the bathroom.

Skylr and Her Puppy

You can really see her teeth now, especially when she smiles big...or in this case gives me a cheesy grin.

Skylr loves to play with her puppy Darby, and Darby loves to be with Skylr. They have become pretty good pals over the last 8 months and there bond grows stronger everyday. Skylr really likes Darby's ears and Darby lets her pull them for a little while, but after a couple of minutes she scoots away. Darby always thinks she has scooted far enough away, but Skylr has a long reach and doesn't give up easily. When Sky can't reach Darby's face she goes straight for the feet, and Darby hates that.
She is never mean though. She kindly pulls her paws away and eventually finds a new spot to lay...it's pretty funny to watch.

Playing

Tim started school this week. Its been pretty tough without him. Some days he doesn't get to interact with Sky at all...when he leaves she is asleep and when he comes home she is going to bed or already asleep. But Tim and I realize that this part of our life is important and that education is building our future.Skylr is getting big...there is no doubt. Sky is trying to cut naps out of her day which has made her very fussy. Good thing I am better at getting her to take a nap then she is at not taking them. lol. She just puts up a fight for a while before she gives in. And since our last post when Sky got tangled in the blanket, Tim and I decided not to let her sleep with a blanket for a while. So far it has been going well. She sleeps in really warm PJ's, but she's used to snuggling with the blanket. She has parted pretty well from the blankets thought...I am very proud of her. Lately Sky likes to sleep on her side or belly, in either position she seems to always maneuver her feet and sometimes legs between the rails. I am just glad that she can get then out (for the most part) so she doesn't get mad.
Sometimes while I am cooking in the kitchen I usually give Skylr her toothbrush to keep her happy. She loves to "brush her teeth". On Sunday Sky was playing with a mirror while we were getting ready to visit Grandma. I was very fortunate to get a picture of her looking at me in the mirror. lol. She is so silly.

What a Laugh

Skylr turned 8 months yesterday (1/14), she is so fun and absolutely loves to play. Last night Tim and I went in to kiss Skylr goodnight and we found her all tangled up like this. Tim was pretty freaked out, but she was fine. She was sound asleep and snoring pretty loud. After some pictures and a few laughs I turned her around. I have to admit that I didn't like to see her tangled like that either, but at least we check on her quit often.

Skylr's Fun

Skylr got her first balloon this week and had lots of fun playing with it. She is also wearing her Miney Mouse sweatpants outfit for the first time, from her Great Aunt and Uncle. Thank you again. Skylr has been working very hard to crawl, but she just can't get past her hate for being on her belly, but I don't think it will be to long...she has figured out that she can roll around the room to get to something she wants. Her epiphanies happen everyday! We finally found a winter coat for Skylr...it was quit the hasle to find. Skylr still loves her Rain forest Jumparoo and has the strongest legs from it. Right now Tim and the family are enjoying the school break, Tim goes back in a couple weeks and is done with his spring semester May 8th...just in time for our San Diego trip. We are so excited. We will keep you posted on the fun things that we do, but right now we are just relaxing and enjoying this calm pace.

Happy Holidays!!!

This was Skylr's first Christmas and we had lots of fun. Christmas Eve was spent at my parents house. I made a Turkey and my mom helped with the side dishes. After dinner we watched a couple of movies...well Tim and Craig did, my mom, Skylr and I slept. When Christmas morning came it was snowing. We opened presents just the three of us and then visited family during the day. Sky was so cute about opening presents, she didn't really know what to do about the paper. She got better as the morning progressed, but was a pro by the time we visited Tim's mom. Skylr got lots of really cool toys and extremely cute clothes. Tim and I got some really fun stuff too. We had a great Christmas and we were even more happy to have been able to spend it with family. Thank you to everyone for the gifts, thinking of us and for your love. Happy Holidays!!!

And on a side note...Skylr got her first tooth about a week and a half before Christmas, then received her second tooth Christmas Day. EXCITING, but very surreal.

Seven Months!!!

Skylr turned seven months on Sunday. I just can't believe how the months are flying by. She is doing so well though. She sleeps through the night, and has for a few months now. She loves solid foods, and she shows her love for food with those little cheeks. Sky is always so happy, she is such a good baby. We love to play with her as a family...we put her in the clothes basket and made a little train, she thought that was fun and seemed to have a good time. Skylr loves to talk and has found her big girl voice, she screams a lot just to hear herself and to let us all know that she is still in the room. lol. It took me seven months, but I finally have a scrapbook for Sky, and I will have her all caught up in a week or so. Skylr has been trying to hold her own bottle for a while now, I was able to finally get a picture of her succeeding...even though she can't hold it for to long, she did a great job.

Christmas Is Around The Corner!

We are preparing for Skylr's first Christmas. I have half way made her stocking. The Lucore's all have matching stockings that have our names hand stitched on them. I started this tradition when Tim and I got married. It has been fun. We have our tree up, I put it on a table behind our couch so that if Sky learns to crawl by Christmas, she wont get into the tree. Tim and I have already picked out a new pair of PJ's for Sky to receive on Christmas Eve, and we have yet to really get much Christmas shopping done. This year I was given some Amish Friendship bread and I have decided to back and pass out some loafs as well as starter bags. We will also be passing out our family pictures. Skylr just got her 6 month pictures taken on Friday, she did great...like usual. She has been sitting up on her own since Sunday...we are very proud of her. Today she took some 2nd cousin pictures, there were 3 little girls including Sky...all under the age of 1 1/2. Sky was the only one to give a good smile more than once. I am very excited for this Christmas season, it is so nice to have my parents here and to start new traditions with each other. Well my parents have become a little more settled in so maybe they will tell you what they have been up to and continue to update their blog...fingers crossed (MOM...people want to know what you are doing, what is new and to learn more about your new place), lol, love ya mom.

Hope You Had A Great Thanksgiving!!!!

This Thanksgiving was Skylr's first, and she slept right through dinner...actually she woke up right in time for pumpkin pie. I made the pumpkin pie this year (from scratch) and it was fun...time consuming but it turned out good. I don't think I will make it that way again any time soon. This year we spent Thanksgiving at my grandparents house, we were accompanied by my parents, Tim's aunt Shawna, and my cousin Scott. We had a nice meal and had fun enjoying each others company. We took some family Thanksgiving pictures all decked out in red, my mom took them while we sat on the stairs...I think she did a good job...thanks mom!!! While we were waiting for dinner, Skylr played on the counter in the bathroom...she thought that it was pretty fun to look at herself in the mirror, she would give herself a cheesy little grin when she saw the little baby Skylr in the mirror. My mom, Skylr and I also got a couple papers and looked at the Friday ads, we did end up going to a couple of stores; but we went out after the rush...just us girls. Tim pretty much just relaxed and watched some football. Saturday we helped my parents move into there new house, my mom watched Skylr so that I could have all hands on deck. It only took three loads from the storage unit, two loads from our house, and two loads from grandma and grandpas house. My mom took Monday and Tuesday off so I helped her unpack and put away, we got the important areas done...kitchen, living room, master bathroom and master bedroom. So today (Wednesday) I took a little breather, i guess, I made some friendship bread, laundry (which isn't even close to being done) and visited my high school best friend who had her first little baby today (Jedsen Robert), he's a QT. Today Skylr and Darby had a little bonding time, Darby is so sweet...she will let Sky do whatever she wants, and Skylr just wants to put Darby in her mouth to give her big kisses. They love each other very much.

November

We have been laying pretty low for the past few weeks, although it feels like we have been pretty busy. When I reflect on the week I find that we did not do anything really interesting. Thursday Skylr and I picked Tim's mom up from an ENT surgery. She had a deviated septum that was fixed, Skylr and I took care of her all of Thursday and we had a good time. It wasn't fun to remind her to irrigate her nose, because she didn't like it very well. I sure do hate having to be the bad guy, but it has made the healing process better. She was a great patient and made my doctor duties easy. Friday night we went to a poetry reading for one of Tim's classes, Skylr was very welcomed and made a few funny sounds at just the right time, which made everyone laugh. I did have to leave because she got bored, so we walked around the Boise States Student Art Displays. Saturday we were finally able to go to Red Lobster so that I could eat my beloved shrimp, it was great and way fun. Tim and I had a great time with Sky. Tim was just playing with Sky a few hours ago and I caught Sky on camera being a goof. The flash kept catching her off guard so she would frown at me. Darby thought we were having lots of fun and wanted to join in, so Skylr grabbed Darby's head and pet her for a little bit. Darby is great with Sky, she will let her do anything....Tim and I are so glad, we must admit that we were a little worried about how well they would get along. They have become pretty good pal's, and as the days progress so does thier bond. This Saturday I am going to my High School friends (Tylene) baby shower, she is having a baby boy 12-4-08 and will name him Jedsen Robert Aldrich. After that we are taking family pictures for our Christmas card. we are very excited and have outfits all picked out. Sky will be having her 6 month pics done on Dec. 5. She is growing so much. Actually Monday are her 6 month shots, can't wait to see how much she ways and how tall she has gotten. I just can't believe how fast 6 months can fly.

Happy Halloween!!!!

We had a fun Halloween this year, first we went to a party at Tim's work which is were Skylr fell asleep on my lap. Then the Miller's and The Lucore's got together for dinner and a movie at our place and we passed out candy. Tim was a Motorcycle rider (he just put his riding gear on), I was a Witch, Skylr was Miney Mouse, Our dog Darby was dressed in a little Tuxedo, My mom was a cat, and Craig was a Doctor. We saw lots of cute costumes from the Trick-or-Treaters, and we missed out on all of the tricks...Bumber. ;) Our pumpkins turned out really cool, The football and vomating Jack-O-Lantern's were done by Tim. The traditional face was created by Craig and the Miller's name was carved by my mom. They looked great all lit up, the Trick-or-Treater's loved them. Can't wait 'till next Halloween.

New Traditions

Our family has decided to create new traditions now that we have become new little families. I think that canning has become our first tradition. As well as pumpkin carving, the boys got into it more than us girls, but i am sure that once Skylr is older and more kids are added to the mix, that it will become quit fun event. This weekend was full of fun, my mom and i happily made five bushels of apple into applesauce and successfully sealed all 38 jars. It was a long day, but very fun, Skylr loves the applesauce and was a very good girl for her daddy while my mom and i got to work. She played in a little exersaucer bug in the garage with us for a while until she fell asleep, which is when i captured her making the 'I love you' hand sign to me and her daddy. Skylr and Tim had a fun spending the day together while my mom and i canned, he had her laughing for a while, it was adorable. actually a few days ago we were in the kitchen and Darby kept walking by, right in front of Sky, and every time she went by Skylr would crack up. It was hilarious, i only wish we got it in film, we were way to entranced by her little laugh and the fact that it didn't take much for her to giggle.

She has been sitting up really well, once she finds her balance she can sit up for several minutes at a time. She loves to stand up, which would explain why she loves her jumparoo so much. Her new thing right now is to spit, she pushes out her saliva and makes noises, it's very funny, but i can already see her spitting her food out and making a mess. Speaking of food, she has been eating baby food for some time now and is doing great, she eats pretty fast and is upset if she isn't fed fast enough. she loves corn just like her dad and like all babies she very much enjoys her fruits.

Sunday after church my parents came to our house and had dinner. We carved 3 awesome pumpkins, One of the pumpkins Tim carved was huge so after he gutted it out we put Skylr in it and took some family pictures. She didn't like it to much but it sure was cute/funny. i will post the finished Jack O Lantern's along with Skylr's and the families costumes after Halloween. we all had lots of fun, we finished the night by treating ourselves to my famous and Delicious Carmel brownies..."They are the BEST brownies I have ever had in my life!!" says Tim. we had a fun weekend.
